July Goals: Brussells Sprouts

One of my July goals was to try brussells sprouts. I was super excited to try something new. Especially a new veggie.

These guys were tossed in a little olive oil, fresh minced garlic, salt and pepper. I baked the brussels for about 30 minutes at 425 degrees...just enough to give them a nice brown cooked look.

And than, we sat down to eat. Jon loved them. I did not. I rarely like vegetables so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. I've officially tried brussells sprouts...been there, done that now.

June Goals

Yes, again...it is mid June and I am just now getting around to posting about my June goals. Well, well. Better late than never.

My June goals are half fun, half serious. I can't wait to challenge myself to preparing and eating three new foods that I've been scared to try. Chasing down the ice cream truck will be some good summer fun. Still enjoying Project Life. Want to start organizing our office...this will probably be a goal for the next several months. Need to get back into my daily devotionals.

Sweet Summertime.

I am currently obsessed with watermelon. Juicy and sweet. Nice and cold on a warm afternoon. I  see a summer filled with this sweet fruit.

May Goal: Art For Our Living Room

Another May goal was fill a boring open wall in our living room with some art. Not my speciality. I have no clue what looks good or what works. I am incredibly picky. And it could not cost very much money. Talk about a doozey.

I looked at this awesome website...but it was too overwhelming since I didn't have a specific idea of what I needed. I love, love, love Kal Barteski's work...but it wasn't quite right for the open space. Darn.

I was scouring websites. Desperate, almost. Its like searching for lost gold...you know its out there, but where...who knows. I was browsing Anthro and found a note card that I loved. Rifle Paper Co. It was love at first sight. Especially once Jon approved too.

Another May goal completed. In fact, that makes 100% of May goals accomplished. Score.

May Goal: Barefoot In The Grass

Happy Friday.

Checking off another May goal...walking barefoot in the grass. I thought this was a silly goal at first but its actually been very fun. It has helped get me into the summer time spirit. Nothing feels better than fresh cut grass on your feet. And seeing sidewalk chalk. The smell of a barbecue. Hearing kids play and the ice cream truck music. Ah, sweet summer time.

May Goal: Use My DSLR Camera

My poor DSLR camera (commonly referred to as my "big" camera) has never gotten the proper attention it deserves. Several years ago, Jon was so sweet to find a used camera off of Craigslist for my birthday. Its gotten used on and off. Mostly for big vacations. On the deafult mode. On top of all that, I spent a pretty penny on an online photography class with Maggie Holmes...never practiced the techniques. Major failure. 

That is where my May goal comes into play. Time to get that camera out.

Proof that I used my big camera. Granted, it was used on vacation and really should be used more often. Regardless, it came with us and was put to use.

I was using the original bag that the camera came with. Hideous. Sometimes I would look at the bag and just be annoyed...it just did not encourage use. It was hard to open. Slouchy. Smelled funny. Not fashionable. It had to go.

I searched high and low for a new bag. I was looking for trendy with some sort of pattern. But it could not be too pricey. I did not want a professional type bag but something that could hold my wallet and chapstick. I located this awesome Etsy shop and fell in love right away. I had the bag custom made in this grey fabric with white canvas straps. I'm in love with it. The new bag has already helped.

A new fancy chevron camera strap was a must have edition. It was on sale too. Awesome.

Today starts a new BPC class...Finding Your Photo Style. Hooray. I've been looking forward to this class for about a month. I hope it helps.

Another May goal done. Its shaping up to be a very good month.

May Goal: Organize Jewelery

I'm about to share a pet peeve of mine. Jewelery. And let me preface this vent by saying that I don't have an excessive amount. Or an expensive collection. Its mostly cheap pieces from little boutiques for a specific occasion and outfit. On to my pet peeve- I hate storing my jewelery. Necklaces get tangled. Bangles are everywhere. I can't find the matching earring. So frustrating.

The photo above is the before. The way I was storing my jewelery. Yes, in a bag, Tipped over. shoved on a shelf in our bathroom. And you see why I have a jewelry pet peeve. Impossible. I had to make this a May goal.

I wanted some sort of storage that was cute, fun, and flat. My previous method (bag+necklace hanger thing) was not working. At all.

I found this cute divider at Michaels. For 40% off. Score.

After a few sips of wine, I was ready to tackle the project. Necklaces are laying (nicely!) in the large divider. Bracelets, earings, and bangles are in the smaller dividers. So much easier.

One May goal down. Four to go.

May Goals

Two things to understand before you continue reading this post. 1) I realized that I am posting my May goals at close to the end of the month. 2) Where did the month of April go?

My May goals are pretty fun. Well, so far every month has been fun. But I am pretty confident I can stay on top of this month more. Even with it being nearly over. Need to use my big camera (DSLR) more...this is continuing from April...more to come on this topic. Need to organize my jewelry. I'll try to stay on top of Project Life. Must find a piece of art for our living room. And I want to walk barefoot in the grass more...perfect spring activity.

What the heck happened with April and my goals? Gosh, the month just flew by. I only used my big camera once. Boo. Which is why this goal is being continued in May.  I organized my crazy scarf collection. I did not stay up to date on Project Life, but oh well. We started and finished our first home improvement project. That was a big one. However, I failed at buying a new plant. Hmph...I'm 2 for 5 with my goals...not the best results. But still fun.

April Goal: 1 House Improvement Project

Another April goal was to start 1 house improvement project. We have a slew of them to work on. Hmph...so overwhelming.

Our very first project was having our old box lights in the kitchen removed and adding recessed lighting. The kitchen lighting was terrible. One of the covers fell and broke. One of the bulbs was burnt out causing our kitchen to look like a scene out of a horror movie. I don't think I need to continue explaining...

The lighting project has started. Can't wait to for this to be finished and to enjoy the finished results!
